Regional College Showcase

The Mountain West's NCAA-Certified Showcase for Unsigned Seniors, Post-Grad & Return Missionary Players

Spring 2027 — Dates TBA

The Event

The Regional College Showcase is the Mountain West's NCAA-certified spring showcase — designed for one purpose: to get eligible players seen by the right college coaches at the right time.

This is a regional event with regional focus. Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico produce a disproportionate share of overlooked Division I, II, III, NAIA, and JUCO talent — including one of the country's largest concentrations of returned missionaries re-entering competitive basketball. The Regional College Showcase is built to serve that specific pipeline, in a venue our regional coaches can drive to and in a window that fits their spring evaluation calendar.

The event brings together 40–60 of the most competitive unsigned seniors, post-graduate players, return missionaries, and rising juniors from across the Mountain West. Every game is filmed and streamed live by Utah Top 50 — free to watch and archived permanently — and complete game film and scouting evaluations flow directly into the T50 Player Intelligence Platform, where 1,000+ college coaching programs can search and evaluate them.

Eligibility is not optional. Under the NCAA's approved 5-in-5 rule, players have five years of competition eligibility that begin the moment they enroll full-time in college or the academic year after they turn 19 — whichever comes first. If you've burned that window, this event isn't the right fit, and no showcase can restore it. See the Eligibility Requirements below before applying.

Eligibility Requirements

You must have NCAA eligibility remaining to participate.

The Regional College Showcase exists to connect players with college programs that can actually recruit them. Under the NCAA's approved 5-in-5 eligibility rule, a player has five years of competition that begin either (a) the moment they enroll full-time at any college, or (b) the academic year following their 19th birthday — whichever comes first. Every applicant must meet the requirements below.

To participate, you must meet all of the following:

  • You have NCAA competition eligibility remaining under the 5-in-5 rule as of the event date.
  • You have not enrolled full-time at a four-year college for more than one academic year without a protected exemption below.
  • You are academically on track (or already qualified) with the NCAA Eligibility Center. Unsigned seniors and post-grads must have an active Eligibility Center account.
  • You will complete NCAA Basketball Certification System (BBCS) registration before the event — a Utah Top 50 requirement for every NCAA-certified event.
  • You are a resident of, or currently playing in, one of the following states: Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico. Out-of-region applicants are considered case-by-case.

Protected exemptions under the 5-in-5 rule:

  • Religious mission service (LDS, other faith-based missions)
  • Active-duty military service
  • Pregnancy or maternity leave

Time spent on any of the above does not count against your 5-in-5 window. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies, contact us before applying — we'll help you check with the NCAA Eligibility Center rather than have you spend money on an event you can't benefit from.

Who Should Attend

Four players this is built for.

Unsigned Seniors

Your high school career just ended, but your basketball journey doesn't have to. The Regional College Showcase gives eligible unsigned seniors immediate exposure to Mountain West college coaches who are actively building rosters for next season. Many D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO programs fill late-spring roster spots from regional showcase events exactly like this.

Post-Grad & Gap Year

If you're spending a year at a prep school or post-graduate academy, this is your opportunity to showcase your development. Under the NCAA's approved 5-in-5 rule, a properly structured gap year doesn't start your eligibility clock — you arrive at college with all five years intact. Learn more on our Pathways page.

Return Missionaries

The Mountain West — and Utah in particular — produces one of the country's largest concentrations of returned missionaries re-entering competitive basketball. Mission service is a protected exemption under the 5-in-5 rule, so your years away do not count against eligibility. The Regional College Showcase is specifically built to welcome you back and give regional coaches a look after your time away.

Rising Juniors

It's never too early to start the recruiting process. A limited number of rising juniors from the Mountain West are accepted to begin building their exposure and platform profile. College coaches increasingly evaluate younger prospects, and early regional visibility gives you a significant advantage.

Regional Focus

Built for the Mountain West.

This is not a national showcase pretending to be regional, and it's not a national showcase that happens to land in Utah. It's an event built, staffed, and scheduled around the Mountain West basketball pipeline — the players in this region and the college coaches recruiting them.

  • Eligible player pool drawn from Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico
  • Regional D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO coaches within driving distance — plus complimentary hotel for programs traveling from farther in the region
  • Spring window aligned with the Mountain West recruiting calendar for late-signing seniors, JUCO recruiting, and returning-missionary evaluation
  • Salt Lake City venue with direct flights and I-15 access from every state in the region
  • Content, evaluations, and platform profiles specifically distributed to Mountain West coaching networks first

How Our Exposure Model Works

More than a weekend — a recruiting platform.

Most showcases end when the games are over. Ours doesn't. Every game is filmed and streamed live by Utah Top 50 — we produce all of our own content in-house — and within days of the final game, complete film is posted to YouTube and linked directly to your T50 Player Intelligence Platform profile. Your scouting evaluation and T50 Score (our 0–100 composite player rating across six evaluation categories) are finalized by the UT50 coaching staff. Rosters and schedules go out to our network of 1,000+ college coaching programs in advance. College coaches can search, filter, and evaluate you at their convenience, weeks and months after the event. A coach who discovers you in July will have the same access to your March showcase film and evaluation as a coach who watched live. That's the difference between a weekend event and a recruiting platform.

Venue

Westminster University.

The Regional College Showcase is held at Westminster University in Salt Lake City — a college campus setting that fits the moment. The facility provides a professional game-day atmosphere with quality sight lines for evaluating coaches, broadcast-ready lighting, and the kind of environment that helps players compete at their best in front of the programs recruiting them.

College Coaches — We Want You Here

Complimentary hotel for visiting Mountain West coaches.

The Regional College Showcase exists to connect unsigned regional players with programs that need them. To make it easier for coaches to attend in person, Utah Top 50 is offering complimentary hotel accommodation for visiting college coaches — with priority for programs traveling from within the Mountain West. If you're a college coach planning to attend the Showcase — or considering it — let us know. We'll follow up with details on accommodation, the coach package, player rosters, and everything you'll need to evaluate efficiently while you're here. Details are still being finalized, and we're gauging interest now so we can plan accordingly.

Hotel accommodation is complimentary for verified visiting college coaches. We'll confirm details before booking.

What is the T50 Score?

A 0–100 rating you earn on the floor.

The T50 Score is Utah Top 50's 0–100 composite player rating. Every player evaluated at a Utah Top 50 event receives one. It's built from six categories — scoring, playmaking, defense, athleticism, basketball IQ, and intangibles — scored by our coaching staff, then combined with verified physical testing data and performance stats. It isn't a subjective ranking or an opinion. It's a transparent, data-backed score you earn on the floor, and it lives permanently on your T50 Player Intelligence Platform profile.

NCAA Certification

Officially evaluated. Officially visible.

The Regional College Showcase is NCAA-certified through the Event Certification & Approvals Group (ECAG). Coaches at all NCAA divisions — D1, D2, and D3 — can officially attend and evaluate prospects. NAIA and JUCO coaches attend as well. NCAA certification requires all participating players to be registered in the Basketball Certification System (BBCS) and all event coaches to hold current USA Basketball Gold Licenses. We handle the certification process — players simply need to complete their BBCS registration as part of the event signup.

Spectator Policy
