About

Official Utah Top 50 logo

Built for the players who earn it.

Utah Top 50 exists to identify, evaluate, and develop the state's most committed high school basketball players — boys and girls — and connect them to the next level.

Our Mission

Recognition has to be earned.

Too much of youth and high school basketball has become pay-to-play. Utah Top 50 was built as a counterweight: an invitation-only environment where rosters are decided by evaluators, not entry fees. Every athlete in our program is here because a coach said they belonged.

And because we believe families shouldn't have to pay to watch their kids play, every Utah Top 50 event is free admission for spectators. Always.

What we do

Three commitments.

Identify

Our committee — coaches and evaluators with decades of Utah basketball experience — reviews every player. Nominations from school and club coaches feed our scouting pipeline.

Evaluate

Camps and showcases are structured for honest assessment. Players compete in front of evaluators, not just officials. Feedback is real.

Connect

Rosters, schedules, film, and evaluations are distributed to 1,000+ college programs. We make sure the right people see the right players.

Beyond the Scholarship

We don't promise scholarships. We give players the tools to be seen.

The recruiting landscape is changing fast. The NCAA's proposed 5-in-5 eligibility rule would give Division I athletes five full seasons of competition, with the eligibility clock starting when a player enrolls full-time in college or turns 19 — whichever comes first. Traditional redshirting is going away. And for many players, the best path to college basketball isn't a straight line from high school senior to college freshman.

Utah Top 50 exists to help players and families navigate these options with real information, not hype. We don't promise scholarships. We don't guarantee placement. What we do is give every player in our program the tools to be seen, evaluated, and understood by the coaches and programs that are the right fit for them. From the custom ProLook jerseys our players wear to the professional game film distributed to college coaches — every detail of a Utah Top 50 event is designed to match the standard our players deserve.

For the elite prospect

Comprehensive game film, scouting evaluations, and physical testing data distributed to 1,000+ college coaching programs — so coaches can make confident recruiting decisions based on real data, not highlight reels.

For the developing player

A clear picture of where they stand, what they need to improve, and a development pathway that helps them maximize their high school career and expand their options.

For the player who needs more time

Education about prep schools, post-graduate programs, and gap year academies where they can keep developing before committing to a college program — especially as the 5-in-5 rule reshapes how eligibility works.

For every family

Honest guidance in a system that's often confusing, expensive, and full of people overpromising results.

What is the 5-in-5 Rule?

The NCAA is advancing a major change to Division I eligibility. Under the proposed 5-in-5 model, athletes would receive five full seasons of competition. The eligibility clock starts when a player enrolls full-time in college or at the beginning of the academic year following their 19th birthday — whichever comes first.

  • Traditional redshirting is going away. A redshirt year would no longer preserve an extra season beyond the five-year window.
  • The gap year becomes more valuable. A year at a prep school or post-graduate academy doesn't start the eligibility clock — players arrive at college with five full seasons available.
  • More options, more decisions. JUCO, prep school, early enrollment, gap year — each has different implications under the new rules.

The Operators

Run by basketball people.

Utah Top 50 is operated by On Ball Sports, LLC — a Utah-based company built by lifelong coaches, players, and operators. We've spent careers around high school and college basketball, and we built this brand to fix the parts of grassroots basketball we believe were broken.

We are based in West Jordan, Utah, and operate across the state with venues, partners, and coaches who share our standard.
